Not many deliveries (5 a month) so you will do med surg. Only one labor trained nurse in the hospital many times so not safe. You are really alone if you have a labor patient. Protect your license. Baby nurse for delivery can be the med Surg charge nurse that is not comfortable in the baby nurse role. Mostly travelers for L&D (95%)
which are great to work with if you are lucky enough to have a second in the building.  
Med Surg ratios were good 3-4 with an aide. No in house med Surg Dr at night. Use Teledoc.
