Medical Laboratory Scientist

Overview

• Schedule: Days; 4-10 hour shifts with varied start times from 6a-8am; 1-2 nights of on-call rotation per week; holiday on-call rotation
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Medical Technologist (2 years of experience)
• Medical Technologist experience within the last year
• ASCP or AMT
• BLS
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory services in accordance with CLIA standards
• Perform testing and related duties across urinalysis, chemistry, microbiology, coagulation, serology, hematology, and transfusion services
• Obtain specimens from patients, including capillary, venous, and arterial specimens
• Work with pediatric through geriatric patients
• Participate in proficiency testing, quality assurance, and quality control
• Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, including preventive maintenance
• Review, validate, and enter written orders into the LIS
• Register patients into the LIS for lab appointments
• Share in on-call rotation to perform emergency tests during nights, weekends, and holidays

• Housing is limited; motel/hotel options may need to be researched
• On-call rooms are limited and available upon request
• Must be proficient in computers, LIS/HIS systems, and EMR
