LDRP RN

Location: Hayward, Wisconsin (critical access hospital, northwest Wisconsin) Contract Length: 13 weeks Job Title: RN (Registered Nurse) Shifts: Days, Nights Hours: 12 hours per shift, 36 hours per week Scrubs: Hospital scrubs provided Housing: Housing leads available (at additional cost). Candidates should look into housing in the area when submitting.

Unit Details

• Department: LDRP | RN
• L&D beds: 6
• Postpartum beds: 3
• OR suites on unit for C-sections: In OR. Nurses attend deliveries, with an OR circulator and surgical tech also present.
• Births: 0-1 per day, about 10 per month, about 120 per year
• Ratios: Follows AWHONN guidelines
• Common diagnoses and patients: Pregnant patients, newborns, pre-eclampsia, gestational DM, HTN. Deliveries at 36 weeks and above.
• Charge nurse: Always a house supervisor; no departmental charge nurse
• Nurse aides/surgical techs on unit: None
• OB/neonatologist coverage: Not in house 24/7; on call
• Anesthesia coverage: In house during the day, on call at night
• Monitor techs: None; the unit does not have monitor techs

Required Qualifications

• BLS certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Experience field reads: "No LDRP-Mother baby care (L and D, PP, newborn)"
• Must be able to titrate drips (common drips: oxytocin, insulin, mag)
• Must know how to use the T piece resuscitator

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS

Schedule and Requirements

• Block scheduling allowed a high percentage of the time
• Weekend requirements vary per contract
• Holiday work required
• No call or standby requirement

Floating

• Floats to Med/Surg when OB is closed
• Works as helping hands unless they have prior Med/Surg experience, in which case they could take an assignment

Orientation

• Unit-specific orientation: 2 day shifts and 1 night shift
