Pediatric OR (Registered Nurse)

• Location: Oakland, California
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Day shift, 4 x 10-hour days (6:45 to 17:15), 40 hours/week, Mon-Fri with weekends
• Float: May float to other facilities in the system

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• Pediatrics OR - Operating Room experience of at least 1 year, with experience completed within the last year
• Experience in a teaching hospital setting

Preferred Qualifications

• CNOR
• Experience: Ambulatory OR, CVOR, General OR, Peds CVOR, Trauma

Pre-Start Requirements

Background and verification

• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, renewed annually
• Sex offender search, EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Education verification by a third-party source (copy of diploma or transcript accepted in lieu)
• Nursys verification (required for RNs) and state license primary source verification, both within 30 days of start
• Driver's license or state ID, or US passport, matching the professional license

Competencies

• Core Part I, II and III, each with a passing score of 80% or higher, completed within a year before start and updated annually
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam (RNs), passing score of 80% or higher, completed within a year of start
• Unit-specific competency exam, passing score of 80% or higher, completed within 12 months of start
• Unit-specific skills checklist, updated annually
• Facility learning modules and facility Cyber Security Awareness Training quiz (passing score of 80%, completed annually)
• Advanced HIPAA healthcare provider module and quiz (required for nursing candidates)

Health

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, with physician statement of fitness to work, signed by an MD, DO, NP, APRN or PA
• Drug test: standard 9-panel excluding THC, within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years; negative dilute and instant/rapid tests not accepted
• TB documentation: annual TB questionnaire within 30 days of start, or a negative QuantiFERON within 3 months of start for candidates signed on or after 07/15/2026
• Measles (rubeola), mumps, rubella and varicella: IgG titer or 2 vaccines; titer must include valid reference ranges and the traveler's DOB
• Hepatitis B: vaccine series plus titer, or titer alone, or declination
• Tetanus/diphtheria/Tdap: Tdap within the last 10 years, or Tdap plus Td booster within 10 years; declination accepted only if a prior Tdap is on file
• Flu vaccine or declination for the 2026-27 season, required 11/1 to 4/30
• COVID vaccination is not required but is strongly recommended
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually; approved masks are 3M 1870+, 3M 1860 (small or regular) and Halyard 46827 or 46727

Documentation

• Current, updated resume covering the last 7 years of work history, with gaps of 30 days or more explained
• Work history verification for 7 years (in-house or third-party; attestations need approval and are not accepted for the most recent employment)
• Two supervisory references, from the most recent place of employment (second most recent accepted if needed; charge nurses acceptable)
