Registered Nurse, PCU

Location: Dayton, Ohio Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Night, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00 to 7:30) Hours: 12 per day, 36 or 48 per week (36 or 48 hours accepted)

Unit and Patient Care

• Targeted patient ratio is 1:4, but can be up to 1:5 or 1:6.
• The unit uses a team nursing model in which RNs, LPNs, and PCTs care for a group of patients together. Nurses may work in either team nursing or primary nursing, depending on unit needs.
• Work includes telemetry, IV drips, and drawing ABGs.
• Cardiac procedures include cardiac catheterizations, ablations, pacers, and ICDs.
• Drips include Cardizem, Cardene, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, nitroglycerin, and insulin.
• Dress code: navy blue scrubs.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• One year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with PCU experience within the last year.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or RQI.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or RQI.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience working with cardiac patients.
• Experience drawing ABGs.
• Experience with Epic.

Float and Scheduling

• Traveler is first to float, at the facility's discretion, within specialty clusters.
• Assignments may include a medically appropriate unit, or supporting the nursing team of the unit floated to, including the high-risk respiratory/COVID unit.
• May float to other campuses in the system within 10 miles of the main campus or 15 miles of the north campus.
• Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays.
• The facility may cancel 2 shifts for low census per 13-week contract, and may cancel the agreement with 2 weeks' notice without fee.
• Not eligible for employee incentives.
• Return-to-office (RTO) requests must be submitted with the initial submittal. No RTO will be added after the offer, and approval is at the manager's discretion.

Onboarding Requirements

• Current resume or application.
• Current Nursys report must be included with submittal.
• Annual skills checklist within 1 year prior to documentation due date.
• Two professional references from within 2 years, one of which must be a manager, supervisor, or charge RN.
• Government-issued photo ID.
• Negative 9- or 10-panel drug screen within 12 months prior to documentation due date. Must include a marijuana panel. Medical marijuana use is not accepted as justification for a positive result.
• 7-year criminal background check within 12 months prior to documentation due date.
• Physical exam within 2 years, signed by an MD, DO, NP, PA, or RN.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray.
• Hepatitis B vaccination series, immune titer, or declination.
• Rubeola, mumps, rubella, and varicella titers or 2 vaccines preferred. Attestation of immunity is also acceptable.
• Flu vaccination or declination due by 11/13/2026.
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam within 2 years of start.
• Unit-specific competency exam within 2 years prior to start.
• Medical questionnaire for respiratory protection, followed by respiratory safety clearance within 1 year of start, renewed annually.
• E-Verify and I-9 attestation required.
