Cardiac Tele (Telemetry) Registered Nurse

Location: Seneca, South Carolina Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Day, 3x12 hours (7:00 to 19:30), 36 hours per week Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend, but may vary based on need

Role Details

Float to other like units or facilities is required.
Adult patients with chest pain/acute coronary syndrome, cardiac arrhythmias, diabetes, syncope, permanent pacemaker insertion, CVA/TIA/stroke work-up, pneumonia, heart failure, COPD, sepsis, and GI bleeding.
Surgical patients from general surgery, otolaryngology, gynecology, orthopedics, cardiology, and urology.
Procedures and services: cardiac/telemetry monitoring, pulse oximetry, TEE, negative pressure isolation (AFB), thoracentesis/paracentesis, and dialysis.
Level 3 administration of continuous IV infusions and Level 3 IV push medications for inpatient care, per facility policy.
Medication system: Pyxis & Omnicell. Documentation system: EPIC.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in South Carolina
Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, completed within the last year
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or RQI
BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or RQI
NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale certification)
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience with Epic

Background and Compliance

Seven-year background check completed within 12 months of start, including SS trace, county, state, and federal searches as applicable, plus a sex offender search
Misdemeanors and above require approval; minor non-misdemeanor traffic violations do not
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG clearance within 30 days of start, rechecked every 30 days
OFAC sanctions list search
Highest level of education verified
Driver's license or state ID required at signing and must be carried on duty
E-Verify or attestation
Badge photo required (white, cream, or light gray background, forward-facing, no hats or sunglasses)
Signed contractor acknowledgment within 24 hours of contract signing, renewed annually
Signed floating policy, renewed annually

Health and Immunization Requirements

Physician's physical statement within 1 year of start that attests to ability to meet the physical demands of the position; chiropractor statements are not accepted
Drug screen (5-panel, instant accepted) within 12 months, updated annually. A positive marijuana result is an automatic cancel. One retest is allowed for a dilute result.
TB test (True 2-step PPD, QuantiFERON Gold, or T-SPOT) within 90 days of start, or a 1-step PPD if a qualifying test was done within the last 12 months. Positive responders need a chest X-ray within 6 months of start.
TB questionnaire annually
Proof of immunity or two vaccines for rubeola (measles), mumps, rubella, and varicella
Hepatitis B vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination (updated annually)
Flu vaccine documentation or approved exemption by the facility deadline (pre-start candidates by 10/5; working candidates by 11/6)
Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation

Orientation and Online Training

Online modules (about 12 hours) must be completed within 72 hours of assignment. The facility will not clear a nurse to start until these are complete.
Pass/fail testing must be completed before orientation, with a 48-hour window to complete it once loaded. Failing both attempts results in cancellation.

Resume or application covering a seven-year work history
Performance evaluation and internal evaluation are required only if the candidate has worked with the agency for over 1 year.
