Operating Room (Registered Nurse)

Overview

• Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Day shift, 5 x 8-hour shifts, 7:00 to 15:30 (40 hours per week)
• Schedule preferences accepted: 5-8s or 4-10s

Required Qualifications

• Licensure: Valid Iowa RN license, with primary source verification and NURSYS verification, completed within 30 days of start
• Education: Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience:

  • Operating Room experience, 1 year, with experience within the last year
  • ENT surgery experience
  • Experience with Epic
• Certifications:

  • ACLS, AHA only (RQI accepted), required for RNs in the O.R.
  • BLS, AHA only (RQI accepted), required for all nursing positions

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical: Annual physical or statement of health within 1 year of start, signed by an MD, DO, NP, ARNP, or PA; updated annually
• N95 fit test: Completed within 12 months; preferably before start. Onsite testing is allowed only after a documented attempt off site fails to find an available mask size.
• TB: QuantiFERON Gold or T-Spot within 90 days of start. A past positive result with a later chest X-ray is accepted, along with an annual TB questionnaire.
• Tdap: Proof of vaccination or booster within 10 years (Td is not accepted)
• MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and varicella: Positive IgG titer, or proof of 2 live vaccines at least 28 days apart. IgM titers are not accepted.
• Hepatitis B: Completed 3-dose series, or a positive IgG titer, or a declination form on file
• Flu vaccination: Required by 10/31 for the 2026-27 flu season, or an approved exemption on file
• Drug screen: 10-panel drug screen including THC, within 30 days of start
• Exemptions: Medical and religious exemption forms are available for COVID-19 and flu vaccines. Each requires facility approval before acceptance.

Background and Employment Verification

• Background check: Completed within 30 days of start, with alias searches. Includes county, federal, and national criminal searches, Social Security trace, sanctions and exclusion lists, and sex offender search. Searches for countries outside the US are required if the worker lived abroad in the last 7 years.
• Education verification: Completed through the school or an approved verification service for highest level of education. Diploma copies are not accepted in place of verification.
• Iowa SING check: Run through the official Iowa state website within 30 days of start, with all aliases included
• Employment history: Resume covering 7 years, or back to college/technical school graduation, with no gap longer than 30 days. Must include dates, city, state, job title, phone number, and email address.
• Employment verification: Verified for the last 7 years, including dates worked and rehire eligibility. Third-party verification is required for any employer that cannot be verified by phone or paystub. Attestations are not accepted, and the worker cannot start with pending verifications.
• References: 2 supervisory references from the specialty. One must be within the last year; the second must be within the last 2 years. Charge references are accepted.
• Identification: Copy of a valid passport, driver's license, or government ID. Expired IDs are not accepted.
