Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist

Location: Tuba City, Arizona Specialty: Medical Laboratory Employment Type: Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Monday to Thursday, 6:00 am to 5:00 pm, or Tuesday to Friday, 6:00 am to 5:00 pm

Role Summary

• Oversees assigned laboratory sections, including specimen processing, test performance, and reporting of results in compliance with regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
• Works in a hospital laboratory covering chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, phlebotomy, blood bank, microbiology, and clinical microscopy.
• The laboratory provides 24-hour coverage. Work includes rotating, day, evening, or night shifts, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.
• Initially trained as a bench technologist, then assigned to one or more sections for lead duties.

Required Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a Medical Technologist.
• Medical Technologist experience within the last year.
• Current Medical Laboratory Science, Technologist, or Specialist certification.
• Bachelor's degree in a laboratory, biological, chemical, or physical science, or a healthcare or healthcare management related field.
• Experience as a generalist across lab benches.

Facility Overview

• JCAHO-accredited, 73-bed hospital serving as a referral center for the western Navajo and Hopi Reservations.
• Provides inpatient and outpatient emergency services, and approximately 49% of surgeries are outpatient or ambulatory.

• Orientation: Every 2 weeks.
• COVID and flu vaccine exemptions: May be accepted once a declination form is submitted.
• Housing: Housing application must be submitted 2 weeks before start (housing at additional cost).
