Microbiologist (MLS/MLT)

Overview

• Role: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
• Employment type: Contract
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Location: Tuba City, Arizona
• Shift: 4-10s, 7am to 6pm
• Position summary: Performs specimen processing, testing, and reporting of results in compliance with regulatory requirements, policy, and procedures. The laboratory covers chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, blood bank, microbiology, and clinical microscopy, with 24-hour coverage. Shifts rotate across day, evening, or night, plus weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.

Required Qualifications

• Medical Lab Technician (0.5 years of experience)
• Medical Lab Technician experience within the last year
• Either a high school diploma plus at least 60 semester hours including chemistry, biology, and laboratory science coursework, or completion of an approved military laboratory training program; or a bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science plus at least 48 semester hours of science coursework including chemistry, biology, and medical laboratory science
• Experience on the chemistry bench
• Experience on the hematology bench
• Experience on the microbiology bench
• Experience in the blood bank

Facility Information

• Accredited health center serving a 4,400 square mile area as a referral center for the western Navajo and Hopi Reservations.
• 73-bed hospital offering inpatient and outpatient emergency care, dental, ophthalmology, orthopedics, OB/GYN, oral surgery, eye surgery, and urological procedures.

Additional Information

• Orientation: Every 2 weeks.
• Housing: Available (at additional cost). The housing application must be submitted 2 weeks before start.
• COVID and flu exemptions: May be accepted once a declination form is submitted.
