Unit Details

15-bed emergency department / freestanding emergency department
Patient ratio: 1:4 depending on acuity
Every other weekend; no on-call

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Texas
ED - Emergency Department (1 year of experience)
ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
ACLS
BLS
CPI
PALS
TNCC
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred Experience

Experience with airway management and ventilators
Strong critical thinking skills

Key Clinical Skills

Rapid identification of sepsis, STEMI, stroke, and trauma
Splinting, wound care, IV starts, medication administration
Assessments, reassessments, documentation, and oversight of EMT-Ps

Work Environment

Day shift: 06:30–18:30
Night shift: 18:30–06:30
Equipment includes Baxter pumps, Hamilton vents, GE cardiac monitors, and Stryker stretchers
Meditech EMR

Other Notes

Must be compassionate, urgent, and a team player
Royal blue scrubs; no hoodies
Must clock out for lunch breaks and any time leaving the building, and communicate to the CNC

Pros

2:1, 1:1 if pt is in active labor they try to follow awhonn standards when possible. Flexible with schedule will do block schedule.

Cons

Only thing they will float travelers to antepartum or assign pp pts on hold in L&D unit more frequently instead of rotating the nurses.
