Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Long Term Care (LTC), Days

• Location: Kerrville, TX

• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Setting: Long term care (LTC) / rehab nursing facility
• Schedule: Full-time hours at one facility, with no travel between buildings

Role Overview

• Provide skilled, medically necessary rehabilitation treatment to patients with physical functioning disorders under the supervision and direction of a Physical Therapist.
• Perform rehab procedures such as manual techniques, ambulation, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of supportive and assistive devices.
• Assess patient progress, communicate with the supervising Physical Therapist about treatment adjustments, and report treatment outcomes.
• Counsel patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers about physical disorders.
• Document all required information in the electronic documentation system, record treatment minutes accurately, and provide input for discharge summaries.
• Support and supervise students under the Physical Therapist's guidance.
• Attend required meetings (patient care conferences, utilization reviews, rehab meetings) and facility and company trainings.
• Practice under APTA and state practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics standards.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in Texas
• 1+ years of Physical Therapy Assistant experience, with experience within the last year
• Experience in a Long Term Care or Rehabilitation setting

Productivity and Caseload

• Productivity targets: 88-90% for evaluating therapists and 90-93% for assistants.
• Typical treatment times: about 1 hour for Medicare B and 30-35 minutes for Medicare A and managed care.
• Typical PTA schedule: 7-12 patients, depending on case mix. Fewer if evaluations are scheduled that day.
• SLP treatment sessions are typically 30 minutes, for about 10-14 patients per day depending on evaluations.
• Group therapy is allowed and helps productivity.
• Each therapist typically has a dedicated device for documentation.
