Medical Laboratory Technician / Medical Technologist

Overview

• Contract assignment in Winnebago, Nebraska
• 7 on / 7 off schedule
• 12-hour overnight shifts: 7 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend during the work week
• Holidays required when scheduled to work
• Must be able to work independently on overnights, manage workflow, multitask, adjust priorities, and respond to codes and traumas

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Medical Technology or Laboratory Science, or Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Laboratory Science
• Medical Lab Technician experience
• Medical Technologist (1 year of experience)
• Medical Technologist experience within the last year
• MLT(ASCP) or MLT(AMT) or CLT(NCA)
• MT(ASCP) or MT(AMT) or CLS(NCA)
• Phlebotomy experience
• Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
• Must be able to continually and effectively use professional verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience preferred
• Knowledge of hospital laboratory practices, including infection control requirements, chemical and biological hazards
• Knowledge of governmental and regulating policies and standards

Work Setting / Duties

• Perform laboratory testing
• Accession and order tests in the Laboratory Information System
• Process specimens and refer specimens to reference laboratories
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate equipment
• Perform basic troubleshooting
• Maintain documentation and laboratory policies and procedures
• Work in all laboratory sections performing analytical testing on patient specimens
• Exposure to infectious clinical specimens on a regular basis; adherence to sterilization and infection control procedures is required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 10 lbs
• Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods
• Use hands to operate a computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment
