Specialty: Registered Nurse Location: Rancho Mirage, California Contract Length: 13 weeks Employment Type: Travel/Contract Schedule: Day shift, 4x10 (6:30 to 17:00) or 3x12 (6:30 to 19:00); 40 hours per week Call and Float: Call and float required every other weekend. Scrubs provided.

• Level IV trauma center with 26 operating rooms on campus, 12 of them in the main hospital (one is a hybrid vascular and cardiac suite)
• Largest service lines: Cancer care, Orthopedics, and Cardiac

Assignment Areas (Float Scope)

• 12 operating rooms in the main hospital
• 6 operating rooms in outpatient Same Day Surgery
• 8 operating rooms in outpatient Orthopedics
• 3 procedure rooms in outpatient GI
• 4 procedure rooms in outpatient Pain Management
• Expectation is that the nurse can float to all of these units.
• Ambulatory PACU, Operating Room, Orthopedics, Outpatient Surgery, Pre/Post Op, and Radiology/Ultrasound/Sonography/X-Ray are listed as relevant areas.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Two years of First Assist experience
• First Assist experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• Experience in Charge roles
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
• CRNFA
• Experience in a Surgery Center setting
• Experience working with Neuro patients
• Experience working with Podiatry patients
• Experience with robotic surgery
• Experience with total joint surgery procedures
• Experience with orthospine surgery
• Experience with complex general surgery
• Experience with neurosurgery
• Experience with urologic surgery
• Experience with Epic

Certifications and Competencies

• Acknowledgment of pass/fail testing (EKG) required for RNs and OR RNs
• EKG pass/fail exam taken onsite on the first day of orientation: 2 attempts, 80% or higher to pass; remediation course required after a first failure
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
• Unit-specific competency testing required
• Age-specific competency exam required upon hire and annually
• Harassment prevention training certificate required
• Online EKG prep course required (RNs)
• Primary source verification of professional license required; license must be renewed before expiration or the assignment is canceled

Health and Compliance

• Physical exam signed by an MD, DO, NP, or PA, completed within 1 year of start and updated annually; must state good physical and mental health. Occupational health clinic physicals are accepted.
• Negative TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON, or T-spot) within 1 year of start. Positive results require a clear chest X-ray within 4 years and a TB surveillance form.
• Measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella: titer evidence of immunity or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart
• Hepatitis B: declination, lab evidence of immunity, or vaccine series
• Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption; deadline 10/30; flu season ends April 30
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start; two dilute screens are treated as a positive result
• Fit testing required for specified 3M masks; PAPR accommodation for medical or religious reasons only, not guaranteed

Background and References

• Criminal background check (7-year search, national and sex offender searches) completed within 30 days of start; no pending searches or placeholders accepted
• Minimum of 2 positive professional references
• Annual performance evaluation on file for anyone who has worked with the staffing agency for more than 1 year
• Annual internal evaluation on file for anyone who has worked with the agency or prior agency for more than 1 year
• Dated skills checklist required

Pre-Start Requirements

• Facility orientation agenda and acknowledgment form signed by OR RNs before start
• Facility policies packet, commitment to compliance, confidentiality agreement, and other facility documents reviewed and signed before start
• Nursing staffing form required for RNs; perioperative info form in lieu of staffing form for OR RNs
• NetLearning modules completed before start (OR RNs)
