Registered Nurse - Step down

Overview

• Location: Beaufort, South Carolina
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Contract length: 13 weeks, with possible extension
• Start date: Mid-November
• Shift: Night, 4x12 hours (19:00-07:00), 48 hours/week
• Shift dates: Weekdays, every other weekend, float, and holidays as needed
• Unit: 4T MS unit, a 29-bed general surgical and ortho unit with medical overflow
• Ratios: Stepdown 1:4-5, Medsurg 1:5-6
• Scrubs: Not provided (royal blue/white)

Role Details

• MedSurg role that frequently floats to Stepdown and MS/Tele units (Tele means Telemetry). Candidates must be comfortable with both and must confirm they are comfortable with frequent floating.
• Travelers must have Stepdown/PCU experience, as MedSurg nurses float to the PCU unit as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Stepdown experience: 2 years, including experience within the last year
• Medical-surgical (Med Surg) experience: 2 years
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• IV insertion skills

• First-time travelers are accepted.

Onboarding and Compliance

• Background check: Criminal check, SSN trace, county and nationwide searches (7 years), and sex offender search, completed within 30 days of start for new candidates signed on or after 12/14/25. EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks are also required within 30 days.
• Drug test: 10-panel within 30 days of start. Instant tests are not acceptable.
• ID: Government-issued photo ID, carried during all hours of service.
• TB: Negative QGold, T-spot, or 2-step PPD within 1 year of start, plus an annual TB questionnaire on file.
• Immunizations: Tdap within 10 years of start. Proof of hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, COVID, and flu vaccination, or a facility declination form.
• Physical: Physical exam attesting to the ability to meet the job's physical demands.
• References: 2 clinical references (a hospital evaluation is also accepted).
• Work history: Performance evaluation required if the candidate has completed any prior agency assignments.
• Documents: Employment application or resume, signed job description, and signed data access confidentiality form.
• Badge photo: Required, with no hats, sunglasses, shadows, filters, or photos of photos.
• Orientation: Approximately 81 online facility modules to complete before the first shift. Up to 8 hours may be logged for orientation.
