Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Location: Franklin, Tennessee Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: ASAP Shift: Day shift, 3x12 hours (6:30 to 18:00), 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• License: Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Education: Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg experience: 2 years of Med Surg experience
• Recent experience: Med Surg experience within the last year
• Travel experience: One completed travel assignment
• Basic Life Support (BLS): Issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross (instructor or provider). Online courses are not acceptable.

Unit-Specific Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): L&D, ER, CCU, 3rd Floor Telemetry, Cath Lab, ER Peds, Cardiopulmonary, Nursing Admin Float. ARC or AHA only (instructor or provider). Online courses are not acceptable.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Inpatient Peds, ER Peds, Cardiopulmonary. ARC or AHA only (instructor or provider). Online courses are not acceptable.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure): L&D and Cardiopulmonary. Does not need to be from AAP. Online courses are not acceptable.
• CHEMO (Chemotherapy certification): Oncology
• CCRN (Critical Care RN): AACN, CCRN, or CCP required for CCU
• TNCC or ENPC: Required for ER Peds
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring required for L&D
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): ER, CCU, Inpatient Peds, ER Peds, Nursing Admin Float. Any vendor acceptable.

Competencies and Orientation

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam
• Competency exam, as applicable to profession and specialty
• Skills checklist
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgment
• Fit testing completed onsite during orientation
• Review of the facility lunch and break policy (nothing to turn in)

Background and Compliance

• Criminal background check: Completed within 60 days of start, covering all locations lived, worked, or attended school for the past 7 years. Instant searches are not accepted. Must include SSN trace, counties, nationwide and national sex offender searches, education verification, and compliance BG review. All background hits must be sent to the facility for approval, including minor traffic offenses. A new background check is required after a gap of more than 30 days between assignments. International searches are not required.
• SAM (EPLS/GSA/SAM) and OIG (HHS/OIG): Each required within 30 days of start
• Education verification: Required
• Drug screen: Negative within 60 days of start, with no annual update needed. Must include marijuana, cocaine, PCP, amphetamines (including methamphetamines), MDA, opiates (including codeine, morphine, hydrocodone, hydromorphone), 6-AM heroin, and oxycodone/oxymorphone. A new drug screen is required after a gap of more than 30 days between assignments.

Health Requirements

• Physical exam: Within 1 year of start. No annual update needed.
• TB: Negative QuantiFERON-TB Gold or 2-step PPD within 60 days of start, updated annually. T-SPOT is not accepted. TB questionnaire required if the candidate has a past positive result, updated annually.
• Measles (Rubeola), mumps, and rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer for each
• Hepatitis B: Hep B series, titer, or signed declination
• Varicella: 2 varicella vaccines, positive titer, or history of chickenpox
• Influenza: Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required during flu season (10/1 to 3/31)

Preferred

• COVID: Collect the initial series of COVID vaccines if the candidate has received them
