Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA), Operating Room (OR), Days

Location: Marshall, Michigan Employment Type: Temporary Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Days, 10 hours per day Facility: 78-bed hospital

Role Summary

Provides peri-operative care to surgical patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Prepares the physical environment before patient arrival, assists the RN with the plan of care, and follows procedures to protect patient and employee safety.

Essential Functions

• Assists the surgical team during operative procedures, using instruments and medical devices
• Provides exposure, handles and/or cuts tissue, and provides hemostasis and sutures
• Arranges and inventories sterile set-up and passes items to the operating team
• Assists in preparing and moving patients and in cleaning the OR theater
• Follows infection prevention standards and evidence-based policies and procedures
• Completes mandatory education and competency assessments, self-assessment, and peer review
• Participates in unit-based performance improvement activities and staff meetings

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a First Assist Technician
• First Assist Technician experience within the last year
• Active BLS issued by American Heart Association (document required)
• Active NBSTSA, uploaded with the profile (document required)

Assignment and Scheduling Policies

• Requested time off (RTO) must be noted and verified at upload. No more than 5 days of RTO will be accepted, and fewer is better.
• RTO requests made after upload or during the interview will not be approved.
• All scheduling requests must be made at submission, including traveler's permanent address and all RTO in the profile. Requests made at or after the offer may lead to a rescinded offer.
• Candidates who want to work in conjunction with another permanent placement or travel assignment should not be submitted, nor should candidates who will request schedule accommodations such as block scheduling.
• The client will not consider candidates living within 50 miles of the facility.
• Candidates must be able to hit the ground running and work independently.
• Dress code: business casual or matching scrubs.
