  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract length: 17 weeks (ends 3/13/27)
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Shift: Day shift, 8:00 to 17:00, 5 x 8 hours (40 hours/week)

Required Qualifications

Licensure and certifications

  • Active state RN license, verified by primary source verification
  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Continuing education copies from the last 24 months, listing candidate name, course name, completion date, and contact hours. Each course must have more than 1 contact hour. BLS does not count as CEUs. Cards alone are not accepted; the certificate or transcript must show contact hours.
  • BLS (AHA or RQI only; instructor cards not accepted)
  • ACLS, PALS, and NRP may be required depending on the unit description (AHA or RQI only; instructor cards not accepted)
  • NIH Stroke certification, unless the candidate holds an exempt specialty (MedSurg, Tele, MS/Tele, NICU, Behavioral Health, or Case Management)
  • CPI Blue Card, if required by the unit description. Only the CPI Blue Card is accepted; MAB is not accepted in its place.
  • HIPAA acknowledgment signed by all candidates

Competency exams

  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam
  • Unit-specific competency exam (Burn ICU and IR RNs may take the ICU exam)
  • Infection Control/Bloodborne Pathogens exam, scoring 80% or higher. The full exam is required; CORE exams are not accepted.

Background and screening

  • Criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually. The 7-year search must include statewide, nationwide, sex offender, SS trace, and federal searches. Open cases and DUI hits within the last 5 years are an automatic cancellation.
  • Drug screen: 9-panel, completed within 1 year of start (instant drug screen accepted). Not updated annually.

Health and immunizations

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • N95 fit test within 1 year of start, renewed annually. PAPR is acceptable only with documentation of a failed N95 fit test.
  • TB screening: negative PPD, TSpot, or QGold within 1 year of start (a PPD marked negative is acceptable at any size). If positive, a negative chest X-ray within 4 years and an annual TB questionnaire are required.
  • Tetanus/diphtheria/Tdap. If the candidate cannot get it for a health reason, a pertussis titer showing immunity is required. Declining Tdap with no immunity shown results in cancellation.
  • Rubeola, mumps, rubella, and varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines after age 1. Negative or equivocal titers require 2 boosters; the candidate may start with the second booster pending.
  • Hepatitis B: vaccine series or declination. Titer is not acceptable.
  • Flu vaccine by 12/5 or a signed declination. Candidates without a flu vaccine or declination after 12/4 will be pulled. Travelers not fully vaccinated must follow universal masking on facility grounds.

Documentation

  • Two references within 1 year of start, completed by someone in a leadership role (department manager, supervisor, charge nurse, nurse manager, or assistant nurse manager)
  • Employment application
  • Signed acknowledgments: unit-specific job description, RN orientation packet, standard of care for skin care, epidural pain policy review, and sexual violence and harassment policy
  • Confidentiality agreement, completed within 72 hours of signing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hepatitis C titer. A declination is accepted if necessary, but it must include a reason and must not be blank or "N/A."

Onboarding and Orientation

  • First-day instructions are sent by the program manager the Friday before start.
  • Orientation modules are completed on site. Candidates do not need to complete them beforehand but must sign a waiver on site.
  • Medication-system access agreement required for travel RNs, due 5 business days before orientation.
  • Orientation takes place on site, with a medication/calculation exam given during orientation.
