Overview
- Travel/Contract role in Rancho Mirage, California
- Night shift: 3x12 hours, 19:00–7:00
- 13-week contract
- Average daily census: 20
- Unit is adult ICU; no trauma and no BMT
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- ACLS
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- NIHSS
- Experience working with Stroke patients
- Experience working with Post Cardiac Cath patients
- Experience working with STEMI patients
- Experience with arterial lines
- Experience with central line management
- PICC line management
- IV insertion skills
- Experience with conscious or moderate sedation
- Experience with ventilator management
- Pre-post cardiac cath experience
- Experience with Epic
- Strong code management skills, including defibrillation
- Neuro Stroke Assessment skills: 4 or more
- Neuro Intensive Care Unit skills
- Surgical Intensive Care Unit skills
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Multi-system organ failure skills
- IV insulin protocols
- Chronic/Acute Renal Failure skills
- Blood Product Administration
- Continuous IV sedation
- Titrate Cardiac drips
- Titrate vasoactive drips
- CVA/Acute Stroke management
- Care of Ventilated Patient
- Suctioning (ETT, NT)
- Infection Prevention skills
- Isolation Precaution/Use of PPE
- Flu vaccinations required, with exemptions accepted on a case-by-case basis
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of ICU experience
- CCRN
- CRRT
- ICP
- Pre/Post Cardiac Cath/Intervention skills
- Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring skills
- Sheath removal skills
- GI Surgery
- CVVHD/CRRT/Shunts and Fistula Care skills
- External ventricular drains (EVD)
- ICP Monitoring
- Post Neurosurgery management
- Assist with management of CPAP
- Phlebotomy skills
- Surgical Wounds with drains/Wound Vac skills
- EPIC experience
Schedule and Unit Details
- Required to work 3–4 weekend shifts per month
- May be placed on call
- May be required to float to MS/Tele and SDU
- Special procedures include central line placement, arterial line placement, EKG, peripheral A-line, cardiac drips, intubation, tracheostomy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, dialysis catheter placement, therapeutic hypothermia, IABP if specified for CVICU/CTICU, and pacemaker
