RN / Burn MedSurg

Location: Seattle, Washington Employment type: Travel/Contract Start date: ASAP Contract length: 13 weeks Facility type: Magnet, teaching, Level 1 Trauma center with 500 staffed beds

Schedule and Hours

• Shift: Night (3x12 hours), 19:00 to 7:30
• Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
• Weekends: Every other weekend
• On-call: Not required
• Block schedule: Not accommodated
• Guaranteed hours: Facility can call off 1 shift per 2-week contract
• Day-shift role: A wound care RN assists the primary RN in the tank rooms on 8-hour day shifts (0700 to 1530)

Unit and Assignment

• Unit: 15 rooms, 26 beds
• Patient population: Adult burn, plastic, and pediatric trauma and burn
• Average daily census: 22 patients
• Ratios: 3-4:1 on days, 4-5:1 on nights
• Special procedures:

  • Anesthesia-assisted procedures for painful wound care (nitrous available)
  • 2 tank rooms and a bath room for wound care
  • EtCO2 monitoring for specific patients
• Float: Travelers are the first float within scope to meet facility needs.
• Charting: Electronic health record with hard stops

Requirements

• Valid RN license in Washington
• 1 year of Med Surg experience, with experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic

Onboarding and Orientation

• Badge photo required
• Facility-specific forms, including the job description, health history form, personal data form, and background packet
• Modules must be completed by the Thursday before start (about 2 to 3 hours)
• Orientation testing on site; results are not pass/fail
• Scrubs: blue, provided by facility
• Parking: Onsite parking is available, plus an offsite garage option with shuttle service (weekdays only, 5 am to 10 pm, 1 mile away).
