Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel assignment in Evansville, Indiana
• 13-week contract
• 12-hour day shift: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week; may accept 48 hours upon request
• No local candidates within a 40-mile radius

Unit / Setting

• Cardiac Renal Unit
• 41-bed unit
• High-acuity Medical Surgical / Telemetry population with cardiac-heavy patients

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• 2 years of strong Cardiac/Tele experience
• Trauma experience
• Experience with Epic
• Initiate and titrate drips (antiarrhythmics, Heparin, amino, etc.)
• PIV insertion
• Chest tube and indwelling drain management
• CBI (continuous bladder irrigation)
• Antidysrhythmic medication dosing (cardizem, tikosyn, amio)
• Nephrostomy tube management

Schedule / Staffing

• Three weekends out of every six-week schedule
• Every other holiday
• First to float within skillset
• Mid-shift float within the same campus
• Cross-campus float may occur with 2 hours’ notice
• Potential float locations include Deaconess Newburgh campus and Deaconess Henderson

Clinical Skills / Patient Care

• Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation
• Initiate and titrate drips, including antiarrhythmics and heparin
• PIV insertion
• Chest tube and indwelling drain management
• CBI
• Nephrostomy tubes
• Care for patients with Afib with RVR, Afib, flutter, blocks, CHF, COPD, sepsis, BH/CIWA, post ablations, and dialysis

Additional Notes

• Clinical interview required
• Bi-weekly orientation
• Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires
• Scrubs must not have competing health system or agency logos
• 3 call-ins can result in termination
• COVID-19 vaccine not required, subject to change
