Unit Details

Unit: Ortho/Surgical, 5th floor, Patient Tower
Beds: 35
Staffing:
- Day shift: 1 charge/CNC, 6 RNs, 3 PCTs, 1 unit clerk
- Night shift: 1 charge/CNC, 6 RNs, 3 PCTs
Patient ratios: 1:5 and 1:6
Equipment: Computers on wheels, Hospira pumps, and iMobile phones

Typical Procedures

Bariatric: gastric bypass, gastric sleeves
Orthopedic: total hip replacements, total knee replacements
General surgery: laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic appendectomies

Requirements

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Med Surg experience of at least 1 year, with recent experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (candidates without it will not be considered)

Floating

Float areas: Med/Renal, Oncology, Med/Surg Telemetry, CVTS, and Telemetry
Expected to work and float to other areas.

Schedule

4 weekend shifts per schedule, or 2 full weekends
Night shift weekends: Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights
Day shift weekends: Saturday and Sunday days
