Location: Palmer, Alaska Employment Type: Travel Start: ASAP Contract Length: 13 weeks Hours: 36 per week

Shift and Schedule

• Days, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, 10-hour shifts with a rotating weekday off
• On-call required
• No floating
• No 48-hour option
• Blackout for return-to-origin (RTO) during the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas
• Maximum RTO of 2 weeks

• 1:1 patient ratio

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (3 years of experience)
• Certified Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Experience working with Orthopedics patients
• Experience working with General Surgery patients
• Experience working with Spine patients
• Experience working with Vascular patients
• Experience working with OB patients
• Experience with the da Vinci surgical robot
• Mako robot experience
• Globus robot experience
• Urology surgery experience

Role Overview

Surgical technologists prepare the operating room, including the sterile field and surgical equipment and supplies. During surgery, they pass instruments, fluids, and supplies to the surgeon, manage surgical equipment and specimens, and count sponges and supplies to prevent retained objects. Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) requires completion of a CAAHEP-accredited or other programmatically accredited surgical technology program and passing the national CST examination administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
