Intermediate Care Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel Registered Nurse assignment in Wausau, Wisconsin.
• 13-week contract.
• Primary location is a short stay intermediate unit with 8 beds.
• Shift is 12 hours, with day/night variable scheduling: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM or 7:00 PM–7:30 AM.
• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week.
• Weekend/holiday requirement: every other weekend and every other holiday.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• BLS.
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year.
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience).
• One completed travel assignment.
• Ability to read and interpret strips.
• Experience with Epic.

Preferred

• NIHSS.

Unit Details

• Background in observation units or MS/Tele units is relevant.
• Patient ratio is 1:4.
• Common patient types include anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, pre- and post-op urology and GI, and drips such as Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, and Heparin.
• Average stay is up to 48 hours.
• High volume of admissions and discharges.

Float Scope

• Floats to all inpatient units as needed, including IMC and CTU.

Additional Notes

• EPIC charting experience is required.
• Low census may reduce hours in 4-hour increments; this is not considered on call.
• During flu season, anyone declining flu and COVID vaccination must wear a mask at all times.
