Registered Nurse - PCU

Overview

• Location: Columbia, Missouri
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Local candidates: Accepted, but not eligible for extensions beyond the initial contract. No locals within 50 miles.
• Contract options: 36 or 48 hour contracts available
• First-time travelers: Accepted
• Experience: 1 year of experience is acceptable

Schedule

• Shift: Night, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Hours: 12 per day, 48 per week
• Requirements: Rotating shifts, every other weekend, assigned weekends, holidays, and inclement weather work. Must work at least 50% of holidays that occur during the contract. Must take call.
• Essential functions: Work the full contract at the assigned location, work the substantial time of the assigned shift, and take call. The job is very active, requiring ambulation, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. Routine contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses.

Unit and Float Scope

• Unit: 29 bed adult stepdown/PCU
• Floating required: ICU and MS cluster (ICU float considers patient acuity)

Required Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Valid RN license in Missouri
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience of 1 year, completed within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Background and Screening

• 7-year background check: Required within 60 days of start. Includes alias/all names search, counties lived/worked/school, national federal and USA criminal search, national sex offender search, Social Security trace, and FACIS III/OFAC. Annual update required.
• International background check: Required for candidates who traveled outside the USA within the last 7 years.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG: Both required within 60 days of start, run separately through the Exclusions site.
• Missouri FCSR or Caregiver search: Required. Either the MO FCSR or the MO Caregiver search must be on file within 60 days. Candidate cannot start with both pending.
• MO EDL search: Required within 60 days of start.
• Drug screen: Negative 7-panel within 60 days of start. Instant drug screen acceptable. Not required annually.

Health Requirements

• Physical exam: Within 1 year of start. Not required annually.
• TB screening: Negative QuantiFERON-Gold or T-SPOT within 1 year of start, or a True 2-Step PPD within 1 year. Must be updated annually. Candidates with a positive TB result must submit proof of INH treatment or sign the facility INH recommendation.
• Measles, mumps, rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines. At least one MMR vaccine must be after 1980. Declinations and religious exemptions are not accepted. Medical exemptions are available on a facility form, subject to approval.
• Hepatitis B: Three-dose series or positive titer. Declinations are not accepted for candidates signed on or after 7/1/2023. Medical or religious exemptions are subject to review.
• Varicella: Positive titer or 2 varicella vaccines. Declinations and religious exemptions are not accepted. Medical exemptions are available on a facility form, subject to approval.
• Tdap: Required within 10 years of start, or an approved religious or medical exemption.
• Flu vaccine: Required during flu season (10/01-03/31), or a facility-approved medical or religious exemption. Deadline for working candidates is 10/31.
• Fit testing: Valid N95 fit test required within 1 year of start (3M 1870+, 1860R, 1860S, or 9205). Onsite fit testing is no longer available. Must be renewed annually.
