Registered Nurse: MS/Tele Float (Night, 3x12)

Location: Pasadena, California Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 or 8 weeks Shift: Night, 3x12 hours (19:00 to 07:30), 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Assignment Details

• 100% float pool, covering all MS and Tele (telemetry) units
• Float staff must be comfortable working on all MS and Tele units
• 1:5 patient ratio
• Locals accepted
• Weekend block schedule accepted
• Truncated compliance accepted
• Start dates: 11/16 preferred, 12/7 also considered
• One holiday of time off requested (RTO) only, maximum 5 days of RTO
• The assignment rate is for this assignment only and will be reevaluated at extension

Requirements

Education and Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience of 2 years, with experience within the last year
• 1 year or more of total travel experience
• Experience with Epic

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid, unencumbered RN license in California, verified through Nursys
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association (AHA only)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association (AHA only)
• Driver's License
• Stroke certification (NIH Stroke Scale), updated annually (listed for float pool RNs)

Competencies

• Medication/pharmacology competency exam, updated annually
• General competency exam with 80% pass rate, updated annually
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam with 80% pass rate, required for Tele RNs
• Core Part I, II, and III, updated annually
• Skills checklist current within 12 months, updated annually

Background and Screening

• Background check within 30 days of start, updated annually. Includes 7-year history, Social Security trace, county search, and OFAC search
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
• HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
• 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of assignment, updated annually
• Valid government-issued photo ID (passport, driver's license, or state ID). Expired IDs are not accepted
• Professional photo for badge (color, solid background)

Health and Immunizations

• Physical exam or statement of health within 1 year of start
• COVID vaccination: both initial doses of Pfizer/Moderna, or a single dose of J&J. Booster preferred, not required. No exemptions
• Influenza vaccine or documentation for the 2026-27 season, due by 10/29. Only religious or medical exemptions accepted. If declined, must always wear a mask
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start
• Measles (rubeola), mumps, rubella, and varicella: titer or 2-series vaccination (handwritten titers not accepted)
• Hepatitis B: titer indicating immunity, 3-series vaccination, or declination
• Negative TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON, or TSPOT) annually. If positive, chest X-ray within 5 years and annual TB screening
• Fit-tested N95-type mask, required within 12 months of start and renewed annually
• Health documents such as the physical, Tdap, TB, and drug screen are due within 2 business days of signing the contract

Work History and References

• 7 years of employment history with no gap longer than 30 days
• 2 references at supervisor level or above. Charge nurses are acceptable, but supervisor or manager references are preferred

Conditional Requirements

• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) and chemotherapy certification: if applicable

Other Notes

• Facility-specific forms include a meal waiver (required) and a TB screening questionnaire (completed before start and updated annually)
• Onsite fit testing may be available with facility approval as a last resort. It occurs Tuesdays after Monday orientation, and the facility must be notified in advance
