Registered Nurse – Burn MedSurg

Position Overview

• Location: Seattle, Washington
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Start date: ASAP
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night (4x12 hours), 19:00–07:30; 12 hours/day, 48 hours/week
• Job title field: Medical Surgical
• Unit: 15 rooms, 26 beds; average daily census of 22 patients
• Patient population: Adult Burn, Plastic, and Pediatric Trauma and Burn
• Ratios: 3-4:1 (day), 4-5:1 (nights)
• Facility: Magnet, teaching, Level 1 Trauma center with 500 staffed beds

Specialized Unit Details

• Anesthesia-assisted procedures for painful wound care (nitrous available)
• Two tank rooms and one bath room used for wound care
• A wound care RN assists the primary RN in the tank rooms during 8-hour day shifts (0700–1530)
• EtCO2 monitoring for specific patients

Schedule and Assignment

• Every other weekend required
• Not on-call
• Not open to a block schedule
• Facility may cancel 1 shift per 2-week contract (guaranteed hours)
• Travelers are the first to float within scope to meet facility needs
• Accepts first-time travelers and local candidates

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Washington
• Med Surg experience of 1 year, completed within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic

Onboarding and Orientation

• Orientation modules take about 2–3 hours and must be completed by the Thursday before start
• All RNs complete orientation testing on site (not pass/fail)
• Adult medication test required for all RN units
• Pediatric medication test required for burn units 8E and 9E
• Photo for badge required (professional, plain background, face uncovered)

Facility Logistics

• Scrubs: blue, provided by the facility
• Charting: electronic, with hard stops
• Parking: onsite and offsite options available (fees apply)
• Offsite parking shuttle runs 10 minutes, 5 a.m.–10 p.m., weekdays only, from a location 1 mile away
