Medical Lab Technician

Location: Saint Charles, Missouri Employment Type: Travel/Contract Specialty: Laboratory Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule

• 4 x 10-hour shifts (40 hours per week)
• Two evening shifts, 12:00 to 22:30
• Two night shifts, 22:00 to 08:30
• Includes every other weekend (Friday and Saturday) on night shift

Required Qualifications

• ASCP-MLT certification
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA)
• Medical Lab Technician experience (2 years of experience required)
• Medical Lab Technician experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• Hospital clinical laboratory experience
• Experience with Epic

Preferred Certifications

• Histology Tech (HT)
• Histotechnologist (HTL)

Responsibilities and Skills

• Float required to blood bank, chemistry, and hematology
• Skills: blood bank, chemistry, hematology/coagulation, pregnancy tests, rapid tests, PCR testing, specimen processing/handling, urinalysis, proper labeling and disposal, quality assurance, hazmat
• Equipment: Griffols (blood bank), Alinity chemistry analyzers, Stago (coagulation), Sysmex (hematology) with Cellavision, Beckman Coulter UA
• Teal blue scrubs

Pre-Start and Compliance Requirements

• Criminal background check completed within 12 months of start, including SSN trace, 7-year county search, nationwide search, and sex offender search
• State-specific background searches as required by the state of assignment (Missouri)
• Negative drug screen within 12 months of start
• Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT) within 12 months of start; TB questionnaire at start and annually
• Immunity documentation for measles (rubeola), mumps, rubella, and varicella under the agency standard
• Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
• Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (hard deadline 12/5)
• Physical within 1 year of start indicating good physical health
• OSHA respirator clearance before start; onsite fit test during first week of orientation (not required for Medical Lab Techs unless working on the blood bank unit)
• Passport-style badge photo (shoulders up, plain white or off-white background, JPEG format)
• Signed confidentiality/security agreement and standards of ethical conduct before start
• Skills checklist required
• Facility modules must be completed by the compliance due date; a facility orientation checklist must be signed and returned within the first week
