Registered Nurse - MS/Tele

Location: Lees Summit, Missouri Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Night (3x12 hours), 18:45 to 7:15 Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week Unit Details: Average daily census of 29; 30 rooms/beds; 18 PACU bays and 16 Pre-Op bays Surgical and GI Volume: Monthly census of 450-550 surgical patients and 130-180 GI patients Scrub Color: Navy Charting System: Epic

Patient Population

• General intermediate population
• Sepsis/infection, wounds, CHF, cardiac arrhythmias, AMI, CVA/TIA, altered mental status, ETOH withdrawal, SI
• General post-op, ortho, urology procedures, GI bleed

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience: 2 years
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Certification (NIHSS), accepted through AHA, Apex, or NIHSS websites; must be updated annually unless the certificate lists a 2-year expiration
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience working with cardiac patients
• Experience with feeding tubes
• Central line care and management
• Experience with PICC lines
• IV insertion skills
• Heparin protocols
• Experience with cardiac or critical care drips
• PCA (patient-controlled analgesia)
• Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac)
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)

Schedule and Assignment Details

• Weekend requirement: 4-6 shifts every 6 weeks
• On-call: Not required
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks; cancelled shifts must be the regular shift length
• Return-to-off (RTO) restriction: No more than 7 days
• Float: May float within the service line and to sister facilities as needed
• Local candidates: Not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility

Background, Health, and Compliance Requirements

• Background check: Criminal background check within 6 months of start, with a 7-year search; government-issued photo ID required
• Additional searches: OIG and EPLS/SAM checks run quarterly; Missouri EDL search required for placements in Missouri; Missouri Highway Patrol check renewed annually
• Drug screen: Within 1 year of start and cannot expire during the assignment; panel includes amphetamines/methamphetamine, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, opiates/morphine, oxycodone/oxymorphone, and PCP
• Physical exam: Within 1 year of start; does not need annual update
• Tdap: Vaccine or declination required
• Measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or MD statement of immunity; negative or equivocal titers require two boosters or a signed declination
• Hepatitis B: Not required; facility declination form required
• TB: Two-step PPD (first within 1 year, second within 30 days of start), or T-Spot or Q-Gold within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required if history of positive TB
• Flu: Vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/01-03/31)
• Fit testing: N95 fit test required, renewed annually; facial hair must allow proper testing
• Badge: Photo taken within 6 months of start
• Other facility documents: Employment application, two professional references, latex allergy questionnaire, confidentiality form, hand hygiene policy, fingernail policy, dress code policy, regulatory compliance education (80% to pass)

Post-Clearance Requirements

• Healthstream modules (EPIC test or module, glucose meter training, infusion pump training), completed by the Sunday before start
