Registered Nurse - ER (Night Shift)

Location: Milwaukie, Oregon
Employment Type: Per Diem
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Scheduling: Shifts are posted 12–48 hours before the shift; no pre-booking available.
• Orientation: Held every other Monday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM at a regional office near Portland Medical Center.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1.5 years of recent experience in the specialty within the last 3 years.
• Current RN license valid in Oregon.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI)
  • ACLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI)
  • PALS (required for ER and Pediatric ER)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for ER, ICU, Telemetry, and PCU)
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system is required.
• Must have a minimum of 2 professional references from supervisors or charge RNs who directly supervised, covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.

Additional Requirements

• Background Check: Must be completed within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years. Annual updates required.
• Drug Screen: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
• Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation.
• Immunizations and Health Documentation:

  • TDAP vaccine within 10 years or signed declination.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination.
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season.
  • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies.
• Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required for travel candidates; not required for Per Diem.

Systems and Tools

• Charting System: EPIC
• Medication Dispensing: Pyxis

Policies

• Separation Policy: 3-month separation required when moving from going staff to per diem or travel status.
• Float Policy: May be required to float to other nearby facilities within a reasonable distance.

Documentation and Compliance

• Must complete annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via the agency LMS system.
• Must provide a professional, passport-style photo for badge issuance.
• Must complete EPIC training modules within one week of orientation.
• Employment application must include at least the last 5 years of employment with clear explanations for any gaps or overlaps.
• References and work history must be verifiable and meet agency standards.

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
• No pre-booking of shifts; flexibility and availability on short notice are essential.
• Per Diem candidates are not required to support certain specialized facilities (e.g., Oregon Child Center).
