Overview

• Travel assignment in Newburgh, Indiana
• Primary location: Gateway
• 13-week contract
• 12-hour nights, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Clinical interview required
• No local candidates within a 40-mile radius

• Cardiac Renal Unit
• 34 beds

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Recover heart caths (femoral/TR bands)
• PIV insertion
• Chest tube/indwelling drain management
• Cardiac drip management (cardizem, amio, heparin, lasix, protonix)
• CBI experience
• Detox/CIWA protocol experience
• Central line care
• Trauma experience
• Experience with Epic

Patient Population / Clinical Experience

• Post cardiac procedure patients, including heart cath, ablation, and pacemaker
• A-fib RVR
• ESRD
• CHF
• Sepsis
• Tracheostomies
• Nephrostomy tubes / CBI / renal biopsy
• Behavioral health / detox

Skills

• Tele / 12-lead EKG interpretation
• Recover heart caths, including femoral / TR bands
• PIV insertion
• Chest tube / indwelling drain management
• Drip management, including cardiac-cardizem, amio, heparin, lasix, and protonix
• CBI
• Detox / CIWA protocol experience
• Central line care

Schedule / Float / Unit Expectations

• Bi-weekly orientation
• Shift requirement: 12-hour nights
• Weekend requirement: three weekends out of every six-week schedule
• Holiday requirement: every other holiday
• First to float within skillset
• May float to Deaconess Midtown campus and potentially to Deaconess Henderson
• 2-hour notice for cross-campus float
• Mid-shift float within the same campus
• Cross-campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible
• Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires

• Navy blue scrubs
• No competing health systems or agency logos
• 3 call-ins can result in termination
• COVID-19 vaccine not required, subject to change
• Hours are not guaranteed the week of orientation
• Traveler is guaranteed set hours per week except during holidays when the unit is closed
