PCU Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Lees Summit, Missouri
• Community hospital setting
• 240 staffed beds, including a 16-bed ICU
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 18:45–7:15
• 36 hours per week
• Ratios: 1:5
• First-time travelers accepted
• Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments may be required per unit
• Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period, with a combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
• No on-call
• No block scheduling
• Local candidates are not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• No more than 7 days of RTO
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks, with cancelled shifts counted at regular shift length
• Scrub color: Navy

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• Experience in a hospital setting
• Community hospital experience
• BLS
• NIHSS
• Oncology experience
• Stepdown experience
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
• DOU - Direct Observation Unit experience
• Intermediate Care experience
• Missouri RN license
• Pending license not accepted

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Charge experience
• ACLS
• CPI

Clinical Skills / Experience

• MS/Tele, Telemetry Oncology, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, ER Holding, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Telemetry monitoring on the unit
• Rapid Response Team use
• Post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath
• Feeding tube care and management
• Pre/post hemodialysis management
• Blood product administration
• Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management
• Starting IVs
• Heparin protocols
• Cardiac drips and vasoactive drips, no titration
• PCA
• CVA
• Surgical drains
• Chest tubes
• External CPAP/BIPAP
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Interpretation of ABGs
• Nasal cannula
• Oxygen face masks
• Non-invasive airway management
• Tracheostomy management
• Isolation precautions
• Wound care/Wound Vac
