Registered Nurse - PCU

Overview

• Location: Anniston, Alabama
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night, 4x12 hours (19:00 to 7:30)
• Hours: 12 per day, 48 per week
• Schedule: Every other weekend (EOW)
• Patient ratio: 1:5
• Traveler eligibility: Accepts first-time travelers

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Alabama
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience of 1 year, with experience within the last year
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• IV insertion skills
• Experience with cardiac drips
• Ability to manage heparin protocols

Preferred / Unit-Dependent

• NIH Stroke Certification: Required or preferred for some units

Float Scope

• May float to MedSurg units

Compliance and Onboarding

• Background check: Completed within 6 months of start, covering all locations lived or worked in the last 7 years. Must include Social Security trace, statewide criminal search, and national sex offender search. Counties must be searched for any state without a statewide criminal search.
• Exclusion screening: EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG, running all aliases
• Education verification: Official transcript, diploma, or third-party education verification (required for all travelers)
• Identification: Driver's license or state ID
• Social Security number: Needed as soon as possible for candidate access; a copy of the card is not needed unless used as an I-9 supporting document
• License verification: State license verification before facility start and upon expiration
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement
• Traveler attendance policy: Must be reviewed and signed before start
• Physical exam: Within 12 months of start
• Drug screen: 10-panel drug screen (rapid screen acceptable) within 30 days of start
• Fit testing: Within 12 months of start; any mask model or size accepted
• Tdap: Vaccination or declination within 10 years of start
• TB screening: QuantiFERON, T-SPOT, or PPD within the past 12 months; TB questionnaire updated annually
• Immunity documentation:

  • Rubeola, mumps, and rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines, history of chickenpox, or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or declination
• Flu vaccination or documentation: Due by 10/30. Declination is accepted, but candidates who decline must wear a mask at work.
