Lead MLS for Blood Bank

Location: Tuba City, Arizona Employment Type: Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Position Summary

• Oversees assigned laboratory sections, including specimen processing, test performance, and reporting results in compliance with regulatory requirements, policy, and procedures.
• Lab sections include chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, phlebotomy, blood bank, microbiology, and clinical microscopy.
• The lab provides 24-hour coverage. Staff work rotating day, evening, or night shifts, plus weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.
• Initially trained as a bench technologist, then assigned to section(s) for lead duties.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Two years of experience as a Medical Technologist, with at least one year of Medical Technologist experience within the last year, and experience working as a generalist across lab benches.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in a laboratory, biological, chemical, or physical science, or a healthcare or healthcare management related field.
• Certification: Current Medical Laboratory Science, Technologist, or Specialist certification.

Facility Information

• Hospital with 73 beds, a JCAHO-accredited health center, and a referral center for the western Navajo and Hopi Reservations.
• Services include inpatient and outpatient emergency care, dental, ophthalmology, orthopedics, OB/GYN, oral surgery, eye surgery, and urology. About 49% of surgeries are outpatient or ambulatory.

Logistics

• Orientation: Every 2 weeks.
• COVID and flu: Exemptions may be accepted once a declination form is submitted.
• Housing: Available (at additional cost). Housing application must be submitted 2 weeks before start.
