RN ICU

Location: Thousand Oaks, California (1st floor, Tower 2) Contract Length: 13 weeks Hours per Week: 36 Employment Type: Travel

Unit Overview

• Unit: ICU
• Beds: 10
• Staff: 30 total

  • Day shift: 1 charge nurse, 5 staff nurses, 1 unit assistant
  • Night shift: 1 charge nurse, 5 staff nurses
• Patient ratios: 1:2 or 1:1, depending on acuity
• Equipment: External ventricular drain (EVD) devices, CRRT and ECMO (starting in early 2019)
• Typical procedures: Line placement, intubation
• Float scope: RNs float to CCU and PCU. Travelers float first.
• Recent hiring: New grads have been hired into this unit.
• Recognition: Beacon award

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience of 2 years
• ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience working with post-operative open heart patients
• Experience with external ventricular drains (EVD)
• Experience with therapeutic hypothermia
• Experience with ventilator management
• Experience with immediate post-operative care
• Experience with arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling
• Experience with CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
