Medical Lab Tech

Location: Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin Employment Type: Clinical, Allied, Travel Contract Length: 17 weeks Shift: 3rd shift, 10-hour shifts, 40 hours per week Schedule:

• Monday through Thursday nights, 2100-0700
• Friday night into Saturday morning, 2200-0800
• Saturday night into Sunday morning, 2200-0800
• Seven 10-hour shifts, with 7 days off
• Start Monday night through the following Monday morning

Role Summary

• Performs laboratory procedures using established, approved protocols with minimal technical supervision, applying independent judgment.
• Handles quality control, instrument maintenance, specimen procurement and processing, and blood collection as needed.
• Interprets and verifies test results, investigates abnormal or inconsistent results, and escalates problems to leadership promptly.
• Performs and documents quality control and instrument maintenance, takes corrective action, and contacts technical support when appropriate.
• Participates in training students and new employees, and helps develop training curriculum.
• Completes required competency assessments and follows performance improvement plans as needed.
• Completes special projects and voluntary extra duties when workload permits.
• Works effectively within defined error limits, adjusts to fluctuating workloads, and keeps workstations clean and organized.
• Requires frequent phone use and direct communication with people, so strong, clear verbal and written communication is essential. The role also requires addressing customer inquiries thoroughly and following through.
• Provides evidence of annual continuing education participation.

Required Qualifications

• Medical Lab Technician experience of at least 1 year, with recent experience within the last year
• Associate's degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology
• Phlebotomy experience
