Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel assignment in Evansville, Indiana
• Primary location: Midtown
• 13-week contract
• Day shift: 12 hours, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM
• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
• No local candidates within 40 miles

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Trauma level II experience
• Experience with Epic

Preferred

• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Hard worker
• Resilient and able to manage change well
• Social candidates

Unit Details

• 41-bed unit
• Patient ratio: Days 1:5-6; Nights 1:6-7
• CN takes a patient assignment
• Teaching hospital
• May float first within skillset
• Cross-campus float may include Deaconess Newburgh, Indiana and potentially Deaconess Henderson, Kentucky
• Mid-shift float within the same campus is possible

Schedule Requirements

• Three weekends out of every six-week schedule
• Every other holiday

Clinical Focus

• Post-surgical patients including whipples, vascular, pre/post heart caths, bariatric, ENT, podiatry, and open bellies
• Dementia, AMS, CIWA/detox, q2 hour turns, fall risks, thyroid surgeries
• Skills include PIV insertion, chest tube/indwelling drain management, CBI, stable drips, epidural management, ostomy care, blood product administration, tele interpretation, wound care, and pre/post heart cath care
