NICU RN (Registered Nurse)

Location: San Bernardino, California

Contract: Travel contract, 13 weeks

Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts (0645-1915 or 1845-0715), 36 hours per week. Every other weekend. Holidays are part of the permanent staff rotation, and holiday work is expected.

Required Qualifications

Active BLS, NRP, NIHSS, and California RN license
2 full years of experience
Level III or above experience

Unit and Assignment Details

Unit: NICU, Level III, 20 beds
Ratios: 1:1 and 1:2
Patient population: Mostly congenital abnormalities, feeders/growers, and vented patients. No ECMO patients.
Responsibilities: Must be able to read and interpret cardiac strips. Will titrate drips. RT typically manages ventilators.
Monitoring: Telemetry/monitor tech
Charge nurse: Yes, does not typically take patients
Support: Neonatologist in house 24/7, RT on unit 24/7, pharmacy 24/7. No nurse aides or IV team.
Floating: None
Orientation: 3 shifts of floor-specific orientation
