Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36

Unit Overview

Unit: Labor & Delivery (12 beds)
Patient Ratios: 1:2
Staffing includes RNs, unit secretaries, and OR techs
Documentation systems used: CPN, Meditach
Scheduling: 3 weekend shifts, 1 call shift for RNs, 2 call shifts for techs, 3 twelve-hour shifts
Floating policy: Travelers float first
Patient care philosophy: Shared decision making

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Certifications required:
- AWHONN
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Skills and Experience

Advanced skills in:
- Care of laboring patients
- Care of newborns immediately after delivery
- Circulating and recovering cesarean section patients
Procedures performed on unit include:
- Vaginal deliveries
- Cesarean sections
- Dilation and curettage (D&C)
- Cerclage
- Epidural anesthesia support
- Tub labor assistance

Additional Information

Dress code: Scrubs required; colors allowed are Ceil Blue, Navy Blue, or Gray (scrubs not provided)
Unit encourages a supportive environment with experienced staff and shared decision making
Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments
