Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery
Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Overview
- Unit: Labor & Delivery (12 beds)
- Patient Ratios: 1:2
- Staffing includes RNs, unit secretaries, and OR techs
- Documentation systems used: CPN, Meditach
- Scheduling: 3 weekend shifts, 1 call shift for RNs, 2 call shifts for techs, 3 twelve-hour shifts
- Floating policy: Travelers float first
- Patient care philosophy: Shared decision making
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Certifications required:
- AWHONN or CEFM
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Skills and Experience
- Advanced skills in:
- Care of laboring patients
- Care of newborns immediately after delivery
- Circulating and recovering cesarean section patients
- Procedures performed on unit include:
- Vaginal deliveries
- Cesarean sections
- Dilation and curettage (D&C)
- Cerclage
- Epidural anesthesia support
- Tub labor assistance
Additional Information
- Dress code: Scrubs required; colors allowed are Ceil Blue, Navy Blue, or Gray (scrubs not provided)
- Unit encourages a supportive environment with experienced staff and shared decision making
- Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments
