Adult Medical Specialty (AMSU) RN

Location

• Peoria, Illinois

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Role

• RN in the Adult Medical Speciality Unit
• 56-bed unit with private and semi-private rooms

Required Qualifications

• Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• Last four digits of SSN for submission
• Clinician’s middle initial for submission
• Requested time off for submission
• Negative drug screen required for all panels

Preferred Qualifications

• EPIC experience
• Travel experience on a MedSurg floor
• Level I trauma center experience may be considered in place of travel experience if EPIC experience is present

Clinical Experience / Skills

• Central lines
• Tracheostomies
• Chest tubes

Patient Population

• Acute care general medicine patients, including cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, syncope, anemia, uncontrolled diabetes, acute respiratory failure, liver failure, kidney failure, behavioral health, and addictions

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
• Free charge RN on each floor
• PCT support for vital signs, accucheks, bladder scans, and ADLs
• Respiratory support includes BiPAP/CPAP for sleep apnea, inhalers, and suctioning
• Telemetry is monitored remotely; RN can view strips on pack or computer
• Phillips monitors used

Schedule

• 3 x 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday requirement varies
• No call or standby requirement

Floating

• May float to other acute care general medicine areas, including nephrology, neuro, ortho, and oncology

Orientation

• 2-3 shifts

Dress Code

• Any color professional scrubs
• No visible tattoos
• No visible piercings except ears
