RN - Adolescent Psych IP

Location: West Peoria, Illinois Shift: Night, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week Contract Length: 13 weeks

Summary

Contributes professional nursing knowledge and skills to the interdisciplinary team in providing and managing patient care through the nursing process. Works with adolescent psychiatric inpatients.

Key Responsibilities

• Assesses patients through interview, observation, and physical assessment, then develops and updates individualized plans of care with the patient, family, and health care team.
• Evaluates and documents patient progress throughout the shift and modifies the plan of care as needed.
• Performs patient bedside lab testing and quality control, and obtains adequate lab specimens.
• Assumes non-complex and some complex patient assignments, with some turnover during the shift.
• Provides goal-focused shift report and coordinates care from admission to discharge.
• Advocates with physicians on patient behalf and uses physician and nurse-to-nurse (UAT) consultation when needed.
• Completes required documentation, including patient charts and event reports.
• Promotes evidence-based practice and shares clinical knowledge through teaching.

Required Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)
• Valid Illinois RN license
• Psychiatric experience of five (5) years, with psychiatric experience within the last year
• Pediatric behavioral health experience
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Crisis Prevention Certification (CPI)
• Advanced reading and writing skills, and basic oral skills
• Basic computer knowledge (word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser) and comfort with Windows OS
• Ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of people and maintain confidential information

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
