RN - Step Down

Location: Grand Junction, Colorado Contract Length: 13 weeks Unit Size: 32-bed unit Shift: Night, 3 x 12-hour shifts (1900-0730) Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Role Overview

• Usually recruits for progressive care or intermediate care nurses.
• Manages drips and more acute patients.
• Performs independent and delegated nursing functions under the state Board of Nursing standards.
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care, and performs health teaching and counseling.
• Reviews and monitors therapy and treatment plans, executes delegated medical functions, and refers patients for further evaluation or treatment.
• Documents in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines.
• May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
• May be required to be placed on call during a regularly scheduled shift.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Colorado.
• 1 year of PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience, obtained within the last year.
• 1+ years of telemetry or higher-level experience.
• EKG competency and rhythm interpretation.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• NIHSS certification.
