RN Telemetry/Step-Down

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: 3-4 weeks out, depending on compliance tier

Assignment Details

• Shift: Day shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 to 19:30)
• Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
• Guaranteed hours: Yes
• Ratios: 1:4-5
• Weekends: Every other weekend required
• RTO: No more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract
• Floating: Clinician may float within scope to meet facility needs
• On-call: Not required
• Block schedule: Not accommodated
• Local candidates: Not accepted within a 75-mile radius
• Pending license: Accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Telemetry experience (2 years)
• Telemetry experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience working with cardiac patients
• Experience with cardiac or critical care drips
• Stepdown experience

Clinical Focus

• Cardiac drips
• EGG (as written in source)
• Basic Dysrhythmia competency exam required for this specialty. The first attempt must be completed within 1 week of assignment. Candidates have up to 3 attempts to pass.
• Unit-specific competency exam required, updated annually
• Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke, MAB/CPI) depend on the unit and are not confirmed for this assignment

Compliance and Onboarding

• Primary source license verification and NURSYS verification
• Criminal background check within 6 months of start, with a 7-year search
• Federal exclusion checks (EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG), run quarterly
• Missouri state searches (EDL and Highway Patrol Check)
• Education verification
• Drug screen within 1 year of start, covering amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, opiates, oxycodone/oxymorphone, and PCP
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• TB: two negative PPDs (first within 1 year, second within 30 days of start) or a negative T-Spot/Q-Gold within 1 year
• Tdap vaccine or declination
• Hepatitis B declination
• Measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella immunity via titer, two vaccines, or physician statement
• Flu vaccine or exemption required during flu season (10/01 to 03/31)
• N95 fit test (3M 1804 or 1860 models)
• Two professional references
• Employment application
• Photo for badge taken within 6 months of start
• Government-issued ID
• Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year of start
• Regulatory compliance education, with a score of 80% or higher, completed through the facility's learning platform
• Orientation modules (about 16 hours)
• Required facility forms: HIPAA acknowledgement, latex allergy questionnaire, confidentiality form, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies, SSN and DOB confirmation, TB questionnaire for yearly review, and a vehicle registration form for day shift
