RN Intensive Care Unit (Float Pool)

Location: Elizabethtown, Kentucky Contract Length: 13 weeks Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7p-7a), 36 hours per week, weekend and holiday rotation

Role Overview

• Float Pool RN who floats between ICU, Telemetry, Med/Surg, and PCU, so candidates must be comfortable moving across these units and caring for patients of varying acuity.
• Posted under the ICU job description while the Float Pool job description is finalized.
• Core duties include direct patient care, assessments, treatments, admission/transfer/discharge activities, patient and family education, care coordination, and individualized treatment planning.
• Additional expectations include hourly patient rounding, bedside shift report, prioritizing care as patient needs change, ongoing communication with physicians and other departments, and adherence to infection-control and patient privacy requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Kentucky RN license
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), where additional experience cannot substitute for the degree
• Critical Care Float experience of 1 year, with experience within the last year
• ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
• Telemetry experience
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association, within 90 days of hire

Physical Requirements and Exposure

• Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling over 35 lbs, frequent walking, repetitive motion and bending, and color discrimination for clinical cues
• Regular exposure to blood, body fluids, sharps, and airborne infectious diseases
