Location: Urbana, Illinois Contract Length: 13 weeks Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Role Overview

The staff Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The nurse provides care using the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, and financial and human resources.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess ortho and medical/surgical patients every shift.
• Complete initial patient assessments on admission and develop and modify plans of care based on patient and family needs and continuous evaluation.
• Implement nursing interventions and patient care procedures.
• Educate patients on wound care, proper mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs.
• Coordinate with physician and surgeon partners on patient care.
• Delegate and monitor interventions of the HCT staff.
• Set up ortho traction and manage surgical traction devices.
• Manage wound appliances such as wound vacs, drains, pouches, and other urological devices.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date nursing documentation.
• Report and correct safety hazards and incidents.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Illinois RN license in good standing
• At least one (1) year of orthopedics experience, with orthopedics experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
