Registered Nurse, Cardiovascular Stepdown

• Location: Waukesha, Wisconsin
• Employment type: Travel
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Start date: 11/17
• Unit: HCU (intermediate care unit), 31 beds, based at the primary hospital
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), every other weekend and holiday rotation
• Guaranteed hours: 36 hours per week. Guaranteed hours do not apply the week of orientation, and hours are not guaranteed during holidays when the unit is closed.
• On call / call back: None
• Float: May float to other facilities in the system based on census. Staff should not be asked to work outside their clinical skills unless approved by the employee, unit manager, shift advisor, and staffing agency.
• Patient ratios: Typically 4-5 patients on nights
• Patient population: Heart failure, heart surgery and other thoracic surgeries, pacemaker placements, ablations, TAVRs, cardiac caths, MI, hypertension urgency, sepsis, respiratory failure, strokes, and medical overflow patients
• Scrub colors: Any color

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin or Compact RN license
• AHA BLS
• AHA ACLS
• NIHSS
• Minimum of 1 year of cardiac experience
• Minimum of 2 years of medical-surgical (MS) experience
• Experience must be in a short-term acute care hospital
• Current charting experience within the past 12 months
• Comfortable with rhythm interpretation and familiar with routine cardiac care (open heart surgical, arrhythmia, chest pain, cardiac procedural, heart failure, acute MI, etc.)
• COVID-19 vaccine, unless a medical or religious exemption applies

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 1 completed travel contract

Additional Notes

• ICU RNs will be considered if they are comfortable with patient ratios of 1:4-5.
• Desired traits: hard worker, resilient, manages change well, sociable.
