PCU Registered Nurse

Location: Edmonds, Washington Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Night, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00 to 07:30 Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Unit and Assignment

Mixed Tele and IMCU on two floors
IMCU is on 3E with a 1:3 patient ratio
Tele is on 2E with a 1:4 patient ratio
May float to IMCU, Tele, or CDU
Float Policy acknowledgement required. Traveler may be required to float to another facility in the system within a reasonable distance.

Patient Population

Adult, Geriatric, General Respiratory Failure, Cardiac, Renal, CIWA, GI

Clinical Skills and Procedures

Pre/post cardiac cath
BiPAP, CPAP/BiPAP, breathing treatments
Cardioversion/defibrillation
Cooling/warming blankets
12-lead EKG
Drains
Epidural pumps, feeding tubes, fistula, PCA pumps
PICC/central lines, port-a-cath/vascular device access and care, syringe pumps, triple lumen catheter, wound VAC
Medications: amiodarone, antiarrhythmics, anti-seizure

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Washington
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
At least 1 year of PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience, with PCU experience within the last year
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association, RQI, or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association, RQI, or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
NIHSS certification

Additional Notes

First-time travelers accepted.
All facilities in the system honor active compact licenses.
Washington State Patrol search required by state law within 90 days of start.
Annual regulatory modules (about 3.5 hours) required.
