Assignment Overview

• Location: Largo, Maryland
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Start date: 11/30/2026
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night, 3x12 hours (19:30–08:00), 36 hours per week
• Weekends: Every other weekend required
• Holidays: Required as they fall, as scheduled
• On-call: Scheduled on-call not required

Patient Care and Unit Details

• Beds: 46
• Average daily census: 140
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4, up to 1:5 with a lower-acuity patient group
• Patient age group: All age ranges
• Patient diagnoses: Chest pain, stroke, sepsis, cardiac arrest, trauma, respiratory illness, respiratory arrest
• Special equipment: Belmont in trauma, Giraffe warmer for neonates, rapid infuser, Lucas for cardiac arrests
• Floating: Required within the specialty as needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Maryland
• Emergency Department (ED) experience of 3 years
• Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• NIHSS
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience in charge roles
• Experience with Epic

Onboarding Requirements

• Background: Criminal search within 30 days of start, updated annually; felonies within the past 5 years are an automatic decline. EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start. Education verification and 5 years of work history verification.
• Competencies (within 1 year of start): Medication/pharmacology exam, age-specific competency exam, dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam, and color blind testing. Exams require a score of 80% or higher.
• Health: Physical exam; TB screening (QuantiFERON or T-SPOT, or two-step PPD) updated annually; 9-panel drug screen within 30 days before start; proof of immunity or vaccines for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella; fit test updated annually; Tdap within 10 years is not required for ER RN unless the role is Peds ER.
• Flu vaccine: Vaccine or medical/religious exemption required from 10/1 to 3/31; documentation for working travelers due by 12/1.
• References: Two supervisory references within 1 year of start (charge RNs or supervisors/managers acceptable).
• Employment application: Must be completed within 30 days of start.
