Overview

• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Evenings
• Shift length: 12 hours
• Hours per week: 48
• Facility type: Level 1 trauma ER with 65 beds and 2 trauma bays
• Local placements accepted within 50 miles

Required Qualifications

• RN
• Active Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• ACLS
• ENPC or PALS
• TNCC or TNS
• Negative drug screen for all panels

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of nursing experience
• 1 prior travel assignment
• SANE RN experience
• Experience working in a teaching hospital with residents

Schedule and Work Expectations

• 12-hour shifts with no day/night rotation
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required every other holiday or based on department needs
• No call requirement
• Travelers are scheduled by the scheduling manager and may request time off
• Block scheduling may be accommodated
• Floating may occur rarely as a help-all on other units

Clinical Setting

• ED patients range from newborns to the elderly
• Travelers may care for stabilized trauma patients after transfer to a pod, but are not likely to be primary nurses in the trauma bay
• Nurses should be able to interpret and act on rhythms, including life-threatening rhythms
• Common care includes critically ill patients, cardiac arrest, strokes, heart attacks, and drip titration
• ED techs are present
• Respiratory therapists assist with respiratory equipment
• Radiology staff or transport handles X-ray and CT transport
• Nurses and techs draw labs, with phlebotomy drawing for boarders at times
