Overview

• 13-week contract
• Location: Kearney, Nebraska
• Nights, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Driver’s license required at submittal
• Must be outside the 50-mile radius
• Cannot be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity

Unit Details

• ICU RN department
• 33 beds
• Average daily census: 16
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2-3 for adults

Clinical Responsibilities

• Titrate drips
• Read, interpret, and document telemetry strips
• Monitor and troubleshoot respiratory support from nasal cannula to vent
• Float to PCU and occasionally MedSurg
• May care for patients with trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress

Scheduling and Orientation

• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: minimum of 2 holidays during the contract
• Self-scheduling for core staff; travelers are added in
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed
• 1 shift of unit-specific orientation
• If called back in while on call, must arrive within 30 minutes

Additional Notes

• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Pass/fail open-book exam during orientation; 90% required to pass
• RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• Nurse aides may assist based on census and volume
