Assignment Details

• Travel assignment
• 13 weeks
• Nights, 12-hour shifts
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Primary location: Gateway
• No local candidates within 40 miles
• No blocked schedule requests

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Neurology (2 years of experience)
• Neurology experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Trauma experience
• Experience with Epic
• Ability to initiate and titrate heparin infusions
• Indwelling drain management

Preferred

• Social candidates

• Resilient and manages change well

Unit Information

• 37-bed unit
• Patient population includes Neuro and Neuro-Surgical patients, CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, post-op cranis, cerebral angiogram, general medical, and psych
• Float scope: first to float within skillset; may float cross-campus to Deaconess Midtown and potentially Deaconess Henderson
• Weekend/holiday requirement: three weekends out of every six-week schedule; every other holiday
• Teaching hospital; may require precepting of students and new-hires

• NIHSS
• Dysphagia screen
• Strong Neuro assessments
• Basic tele interpretation
• Strict I’s & O’s
• Straight cath
• Foleys
• Initiate/titrate heparin gtts
• Blood and blood product administration
• Venipuncture
• Blood cultures
• NG tubes
• Indwelling drain management
• Stable gtts such as Protonix and Lasix

Other Notes

• Clinical interview
• Bi-weekly orientation
• Scrubs: navy blue; no competing health systems or agency logos
• 3 call-ins can result in termination
• COVID-19 vaccine not required, subject to change
